Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition with a steadily rising prevalence that can give rise to a range of complications, among them disorders of brain health such as cognitive decline, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. The Integrated Non-Communicable Disease Management Post (Posbindu PTM) is a community-based health initiative involved in the early detection and control of non-communicable disease risk factors. This study seeks an in-depth understanding of perspectives on the use of Posbindu PTM to sustain brain health among people with diabetes mellitus in the Jatirangga Urban Village Bekasi City. A qualitative, phenomenological approach was employed. Data were gathered through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with eight key informants (people with diabetes mellitus), interviews with six supporting informants (four family members of people with diabetes mellitus, one community health volunteer, and one healthcare professional), and documentation review. The findings indicate that people with diabetes mellitus have had favorable experiences using Posbindu PTM, owing to its routine, regular, and scheduled activities. They likewise regard the maintenance of brain health as important, express a need for dedicated brain health programs, and perceive Posbindu PTM as beneficial for maintaining and monitoring their health. Utilization of Posbindu PTM is shaped by a combination of supporting and inhibiting factors, alongside expectations for its future development. Taken together, these findings point to the potential of Posbindu PTM as a vehicle for promoting brain health among people with diabetes mellitus.
